Title: Some results in harmonic and anharmonic chains with periodic forcing
 
Abstract:  We present the exact solution for a finite or infinite harmonic pinned chain driven by an external periodic force acting on a single site. The chain's behavior strongly depends on the distance between the forcing frequency and the harmonic spectrum. In particular, we study the average work done by the external force. When an arbitrary anharmonic interaction is introduced, the system's behavior changes, sometimes dramatically. However, we rigorously demonstrate the existence of a convergent perturbation scheme around the harmonic solution for bounded anharmonic potentials.
