Speaker: Prof. Rainer Blatt (University of Innsbruck, IQOQI, AQT GmbH)
Title: The Quantum Way of Doing Computations, Simulations and Measurements
Abstract: In this presentation, Prof. Blatt will review the foundational
principles of quantum information processing and provide insights into the
current status of the Innsbruck trapped-ion quantum computer. Using strings of
trapped ions, his team implements a quantum information processor capable of
quantum operations, simulations, and measurements. The talk will explore
analog and digital quantum simulations, highlight applications in quantum
metrology through entanglement-enhanced Ramsey interferometry, and address the
implementation of fault-tolerant logical gates. Additionally, Prof. Blatt will
discuss the development of a commercially available NISQ-type quantum
processor through Alpine Quantum Technologies (AQT).
