FoQaCiA Workshop 2025 - June 2-6 at INL, Braga - submit contributed posters and flash talks by April 4th, 2025

Dear all, the Call For Papers of the next FoQaCiA workshop (our international collaboration between EU and Canada) is out. The deadline for submitting abstracts and applying funding support (students only) is 4 APRIL 2025. Best, Juani *From:* Ernesto Galvão *Sent:* 22 March 2025 08:07 Dear FoQaCiA project colleagues, Please find below some information on the upcoming FoQaCiA Workshop to take place at INL in Braga between June 2-6. It will start with 1 ½ days of tutorial sessions, followed by the workshop talks, flash talks, and poster sessions between lunch-time on June 3rd and lunch-time on June 6th. Some important dates: submission deadline on April 4th, and registration deadline on May 12th. Please forward this information to your teams, and to those possibly interested in attending. There’s some limited support for travel and accommodation that students can apply for. Please get in touch if you have any doubts or questions. Kind regards, The organizing committee. *FoQaCiA Workshop 2025* We invite applications for participation in the Foundations of Quantum Computational Advantage (FoQaCiA) Workshop <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.foqacia.org/foqacia-workshop-2025__;... >, to take place at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://inl.int/__;!!D9dNQwwGXtA!VV6quYw9379DTy3... > in Braga, Portugal from June 2-6, 2025. This workshop is associated with the FoQaCiA project <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.foqacia.org/__;!!D9dNQwwGXtA!VV6quYw... >, funded by the EC, Canada’s NSERC and UKRI. FoQaCiA aims to chart the boundary between the computational power of quantum devices and classical computers, drawing the "line in the sand" that separates tasks admitting quantum speedup from those that remain classically simulable. This is the second open workshop funded by the project, after the 1st FoQaCiA Conference <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://events.perimeterinstitute.ca/event/71/__... > that took place at the Perimeter Institute in April/May of 2024. The workshop will explore the four central, interrelated themes of the project, and related topics: · Quantum contextuality, non-classicality, and quantum advantage · Complexity of classical simulation of quantum computation · Arithmetic of quantum circuits · Efficiency of fault-tolerant quantum computation Contributions are invited in the form of posters and/or short contributed talks. On Monday June 2nd, and morning of June 3rd, we will have 3 tutorial sessions directed at students, followed by the workshop itself from June 3-6. *List of tutorial speakers *(June 2-3) · Jara Juana Bermejo-Vega <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=bcI03DIAAAAJ&hl=en__;!!D9dNQwwGXtA!VV6quYw9379DTy3kPoZqGHOhB0CMkAM6L0y1xAYHx_7Yem6UvZCE014pdq_1XUeYNFdVoxWkWn_Uiwqu44WPw3__VDs$ >, Universidad de Granada Extended stabilizer methods in quantum computation · Anne Broadbent <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://mysite.science.uottawa.ca/abroadbe/__;!!... >, University of Ottawa Quantum cryptography · Ana Belén Sainz <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.absainz.com/__;!!D9dNQwwGXtA!VV6quYw... >, Uniwersytet Gdański Generalised contextuality: when does a phenomenon resist a classical explanation *Important Dates* · 4 APRIL 2025 Abstract Submission and Application for Student Support · 11 APRIL 2025 Notification of Acceptance and Support · 12 MAY 2025 Participant Registration There is some limited funding available to support travel and accommodation for students.
