The observation of coherent behavior in this type of systems, which exhibit a significant degree of complexity and are subject to fast environmental decoherence, rises a number of pertinent questions. On the one hand, one needs to understand what the nature of that coherence is and identify the physical mechanisms that can lead to persistent oscillations in the spectral response as well as being consistent with available linear spectroscopy data. Moreover, should coherent dynamics extend over time scales comparable to those of energy/charge transfer processes, one would like to analyze the possibility that quantum coherence may either be directly relevant for biological function or have the possibility to be enhanced in biomimetic architectures. El III Torneo Benefí(si)co ya está aqui! Este evento que llevamos organizando por tercer año en el grado de física, consiste en un torneo de fútbol, baloncesto y voleibol, en el que podemos participar todos los alumnos del grado, alumnos de máster y PDI. Con la idea de conseguir algo de dinero para una ONG de Granada y para conocernos entre los alumnos de Física. ¿Cúando? El domingo 15 de Diciembre de 9h a 14h. En las pistas polideportivas de paseillos universitarios. ¿Cómo participo? Seminario: Adaptando el acoplamiento átomo-luz con redes cristalinas atómicas.

El grupo de Física Estadística de los Sistemas Complejos de la Universidad de Granada les invita a asistir al siguiente seminario: Ponente: Taylor Patti. Universidad de Harvard. Título: Adaptando el acoplamiento átomo-luz con redes cristalinas atómicas. Resumen: Examinamos un mecanismo con el cual la probabilidad de excitación de un solo átomo objetivo ("impureza") en un estado estacionario puede aumentarse en varios órdenes de magnitud y/o servir de memoria cuántica a largo plazo a través de interacciones con una red cuadrada atómica. Además, consideramos una configuración alternativa de este mecanismo que produce estados ligados fotónicos de muchos cuerpos en la red y genera efectos fuertes en el campo cercano. Estos fenómenos son muy sensibles a los anchos de la línea espectral, las polarizaciones y la desafinación relativos entre la impureza y los átomos de la red, y se los puede concebir como la interacción de la impureza con la estructura de bandas y modos de decaimiento colectivos de la red. En el caso de una red infinita, presentamos estas interacciones en términos de la autoenergía y la frecuencia de Rabi renormalizada de la impureza, las cuales provienen de su interacción con los modos normales de la red. Asimismo, desarrollamos un modelo de juguete analítico que aclara tanto la intuición de estos estados como la relativa flexibilidad experimental en el tamaño de la red.
