Dear all,

We are excited to announce the first QISS Spring School. This will take place in the beautiful Château de Goutelas (France) from April 16th to 23rd, 2023.

The school will bring together young researchers from the quantum information and quantum gravity communities who want to explore the interplay of the two fields. You will stay in the château for the duration of the school, providing an inspiring atmosphere, and nine exceptional teachers will deliver captivating courses on quantum information and quantum gravity. Accommodation and meals will be catered for, and transport will be provided to take you from Lyon to the château.

This will not be a typical research school packed with lectures. While there will be lectures in the morning, there will be plenty of time during the afternoon and evening to organise individual events. Much time and freedom will be given to students to stimulate new ideas and foster collaboration. You can organise your own reading group, topical seminar series, or discussion sessions. We also encourage non-science creative sessions, such as sports, playing musical instruments or poetry slam. For further information about the school, including a draft schedule, please see the website https://qiss.school.

Due to the limited spaces, we ask all interested students to fill in the short application form on the website by December 12th. Anyone can apply, but priority will be given to PhD students and postdocs of the QISS consortium.

Invited teachers
Markus Aspelmeyer (Quantum experiments of gravity)
Eugenio Bianchi (Quantum Gravity and Quantum Information)
Cyril Branciard (TBA)
Marios Christodoulou (The search for a table top signature of quantum gravity)
Fay Dowker (Causal Set Quantum Gravity, Time and Consciousness)
Flaminia Giacomini (Quantum reference frames: towards a quantum description of spacetime)
Markus Müller (It From Qubit Underground: how spacetime and quantum theory constrain each other)
Alejandro Perez (The black hole information puzzle: a LQG perspective)
Carlo Rovelli (Quantum Gravity: the history of its main ideas)

Please feel free to forward this email to colleagues who might be interested in joining the school.

Best regards,
The QISS school organisers
