In recent years, the understanding of entanglement properties has acquired
a
prominent role in the investigation of condensed-matter systems, and
Tensor
Networks have established themselves as the natural powerful language to
accomplish such task.
The successful PhD candidate will embark on a thrilling journey to
contribute
to the *CRC183 “Entangled States of Matter”* [4] in some of the
following directions:
* Tensor-Network exploration of entanglement structures in
strongly-correlated systems, including classical-to-quantum crossovers
and
the presence of highly (quasi-)degenerate ground and low-energy spaces;
* Development of a TN description of fractional topological modes;
* Use of non-planar TN structures and/or non-local mode encodings to
faithfully treat mesoscopic systems as the ones amenable to be realized
in
the lab with synthetic quantum matter;
* Tailoring of TN algorithms for realistic situations and actual quantum
materials, beyond paradigmatic models, including the implementation of
approaches that deliver faithful estimates and error control.
A rich exchange with other international nodes (Berlin, Copenhagen,
Rehovot)
is foreseen, with generous resources available.
