Subject: Fully funded PhD scholarships and Postdoc fellowships available at UTS: Sydney Quantum Academy (Sydney, Australia) Date: 9. December 2019 at 18:37:11 CET To: Nathan Langford Dear colleagues,
Fully funded international and domestic PhD scholarships and Postdoc fellowships available at UTS with the new Sydney Quantum Academy!!
Applications for PhD scholarships close **15th December**. Applications for PD fellowships close 19th January.
Do you know someone interested in doing an experimental PhD in circuit QED? There are exciting new full scholarships on offer for international & domestic students (including tax-free stipends of $35k per year and tuition fee waivers for non-Australians) through the Sydney Quantum Academy (https://sydneyquantum.org/research https://sydneyquantum.org/research?fbclid=IwAR3qp9pbd_nwMgjL_DLZZCX90tCvn6Pd...). I can support applicants who wish to apply to come & work with Dr JP Dehollain and me in our brand new state-of-the-art circuit QED research lab. If they are interested, please register interest as soon as possible by emailing me at nathan.langford@uts.edu.au mailto:nathan.langford@uts.edu.au.
Or if they’re interested in other aspects of circuit QED, check out all the great research at our UTS Centre for Quantum Software and Information (https://www.uts.edu.au/research-and-teaching/our-research/centre-quantum-sof... https://www.uts.edu.au/research-and-teaching/our-research/centre-quantum-sof...). Detailed application instructions can be found at... https://www.uts.edu.au/research-and-teaching/our-research/centre-quantum-sof... https://www.uts.edu.au/research-and-teaching/our-research/centre-quantum-sof...
I would be very grateful if you could circulate this to the students in your network. Time is short!
The Sydney Quantum Academy is an exciting new joint initiative between UTS, UNSW, Sydney and Macquarie Universities in Sydney, Australia. Heavily funded by the NSW Government and the partner universities, the SQA aims to expand the already top quantum science research community in Sydney into a world-leading quantum computing and technology hub for research and industry. The core of the SQA will be a joint training program for PhDs, Postdocs and eventually undergrads. PhD students will undertake a four-year program, including 6 months worth of advanced quantum science subjects run by experts from across the four partner universities, as well as a joint seminar program, tutorials run by visiting experts, and summer schools.
The first round of scholarship applications is now open for both international and domestic PhD students, with full scholarships available at each partner university. SQA scholarships will fund students for up to 4 years (an extra 6 months over the standard Australian PhD scholarships) and applications are due on the 15th of December (internationals/domenstics starting 2nd half 2020, domestic students also starting 1st half 2020). Applications need to be supported by a quantum science academic based at one of the four partner institutions.
If you know someone who might be interested in joining the SQA, please get them to contact the SQA and the relevant academics as soon as possible! Read the detailed instructions on our QSI home page (https://www.uts.edu.au/research-and-teaching/our-research/centre-quantum-sof... https://www.uts.edu.au/research-and-teaching/our-research/centre-quantum-sof...) or email me for more details.
Kind regards,
Nathan.
