Conferenciante: Prof. J. Ignacio Cirac (Max-Planck-Institut für Quantenoptik, Garching, Alemania)
Fecha y hora: Lunes 17 de junio del 2024 a las 9:50
Lugar: Aula Magna, Facultad de Ciencias
Organiza: En el marco de la Conferencia EGAS 55 https://eventos.ugr.es/egas55/
Resumen: Advancements in quantum computing have enabled the development of small-scale quantum computers and simulators that adhere to the principles of quantum physics. Despite their rapid progress, those devices are not yet flawless and errors accumulate, posing serious challenges to their application to relevant problems. In this talk I will review the field of quantum simulation, focusing on platforms based on cold atoms. Then, I will address the question of how errors affect the results of both quantum computations and the simulation of quantum many-body systems. In particular, I will present several quantum simulation algorithms, and discuss the potentiality of displaying quantum advantage in the presence of imperfections.
